Indocyanine Green (ICG) Fluorescence Lymphography

ICG Fluorescence Lymphography

ICG is a diagnostic assessment of the lymphatic system using Indocyanine green dye to show in real time the drainage and pathology of your unique lymphatic system. This examination takes approximately 1 ½ hours where you will be given 4 injection of the special dye made from indocyanine green monosodium salt.  (Cannot be given to people allergic to shellfish)

After the dye is injected there is a 20min window of observation of how the dye moves without intervention. Once past this stage the lymphoedema therapist will start manual lymphatic drainage to show the unique drainage patterns. This treatment and diagnostic assessment can take anywhere from 30 to 60mins; in which the pathways of good flow will be drawn onto the skin and to the pathology of back flow will be outlined.

This personalized ICG report will guide your therapist in how they perform your lymphatic session.

Kara, your therapist, has attended the Lymphatic anatomy and indocyanine green lymphography workshop at ALERT education in MQ Health, at Macquarie University

This comprehensive lymphatic anatomy work shop taught lymphatic anatomy through wet lab dissection, participation of an arm and leg real time ICG test and the latest clinic data on lymphoedema research.

Within the real time ICG the students were taught how to do lymphatic draining during an ICG and also how to read the ICG report given to the patient from the ICG test to best help drainage of the affected area. examples
